Ben Catherwood, Dentist

Ben Catherwood

Ben graduated from Otago University in 1995 with a bachelor of dental surgery degree. After working at Napier hospital then A+E dental centres in Auckland he spent a couple of years working in the UK. On return to NZ he settled in wellington and joined a group practice on the Terrace where he practices today. Ben enjoys the variety of general dental practice and the challenges it provides. He is married to Bridgette, has four children, and is an avid sports fan.

Denise Hunter, Hygienist

Denise Hunter

Denise graduated as a Hygienist from Glasgow Dental Hospital in 1997. She worked in private practice as well as Eastmans Dental Hospital in London where she worked along side Periodontal specialists and tutored the hygiene/therapy course. After marrying Matt a kiwi she joined our practice in 2004. Denise enjoys attending conferences and providing health promotion to groups and local business in the Wellington area. She strives to provide excellent care and prevention of periodontal/gum disease to all our patients. Away from the office Denise enjoys all sporting activities with Matt her husband and Jack her son.

Christine Rolfe, Receptionist/Manager

Christine Rolfe

Christine has a dental background stretching back 20 years in Wellington and the Kapiti Coast. Originally a dental assistant, Christine was headhunted by Ben in 2005 when an administrators role opened up at the practice. Christine is the key figure when it comes to arranging appointments, scheduling regular check-ups and managing Ben and Denise’s appointments. Christine is married to Mark, they have a teenage son to keep in check!

Amber Christensen, Dental Assistant

Amber Christensen

With 16 years in the occupation, Amber is a highly experienced assistant. Amber worked in Wellington and London before becoming Ben’s Chairside Assistant in 2008, upon returning from her OE.

Amber enjoys the social contact and variety of people she gets to meet while working chairside and is occasional backup at reception. Helping patients feel comfortable throughout the various dental treatments available as of particular importance to her.

As well as assisting for Ben, Amber is a highly competent when it comes to making whitening trays, mouth guards and bite splints in the dental lab.

Outside of work, Amber is a keen auntie and keeps active through yoga and swimming. Amber and her partner, Adrian, enjoy jazzing up their 1960s home, doing road trips in different parts of New Zealand, collecting vinyl LPs and listening to music.

Wendy Turvey, Dental Assistant

Wendy Turvey

Wendy has worked for Ben since 2005, with a parental leave break from 2007-2012. She has over 15 years’ experience in the dental industry and offers a wide range of skills. From chairside to technical skills in making mouth guards, whitening trays and bite splints, Wendy is also adept at manning the reception desk and telephone. Wendy’s two kids keep her flat out when she’s not working at the practice.
